We’re always told to reach for the stars, but what if the stars could reach for us?

The stars are descending from the night sky. Set off across mysterious grounds to discover a celestial pathway of lustrous light, cosmic visions, and astral song. Immerse yourself in illuminating encounters of lighting, projection and sound, and connect with the stars before they return to the sky above.

As the night unfolds, embark on an enchanted experience with your friends and family, and discover the wonder of the stars. This luminous adventure will immerse you in the magic of light and projection with a moving soundscape, set in natural Australian bushland at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. Produced by global entertainment creators, Moment Factory, this world-class multisensory experience is one not to miss!

A stellar journey

Astra Lumina Gold Coast invites stargazers to set off across the bushland pathway to encounter the wonder of the stars and embrace their own light. As the night unfolds, these luminous orbs regenerate, rise, and reunite in the night sky, to shine brighter than ever before.

This permanent night attraction is the first of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. The Astra Lumina experience is suitable for all ages.

As twilight fades, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary on the Gold Coast, transforms into a starlit wonderland. As the stars above descend, Astra Lumina Gold Coast will invite you on a magical journey through the Australian bushland.

Car parking is available and the Sanctuary is easily accessible by taxi, Uber or rideshare vehicles, and via the bus network. Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is located near the beautiful Currumbin Beach, just 10 mins from the Gold Coast Airport.

From the arrival zone you can make your way to the welcome area – where snacks and light refreshments are available to purchase. Take some time to unwind under the stars before you embark on your journey. You will return to this space to relax and reflect on the magical experience at the end of your adventure.

about the experience

Everyone! This immersive experience will be enjoyed by the whole family, wonder seekers, adults and kids alike. A truly unique night out where you can connect with the beauty of Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary after dark.

Tickets can be purchased online and at the entrance gate. We recommend pre-booking online to ensure you and your party get the timeslot you prefer. Each timed entry has a limited capacity, and we expect this experience to sell out. Ticket sales open mid-February. Sign up here to be notified about the pre-sale.

The trail is approximately 1.5KMs and is designed to be enjoyed at your own leisure. Generally, we recommend allowing 60-90 minutes for completion, however you are welcome to go at your own pace and make use of the bench seating along the way to fully take it in.

No, Astra Lumina Gold Coast and Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary are separate experiences. There are bundle passes that provide discounted rates for visitors wishing to visit the Sanctuary during the day and Astra Lumina at night. Ticket sales open mid-February. The trail is sloping in places and is comprised of sealed and unsealed surfaces. Paths with steeper inclines are clearly marked via signage and the maximum grade is 15 degrees. Wheelchairs are available for hire and if you would like to discuss your accessibility requirements, our friendly Guest Services team can help you prior to booking tickets via email: enquiries@cws.org.au

Astra Lumina is an enchanted night walk, created by Moment Factory, and is the latest worldclass installment in the Lumina Night Walk series, which boasts over 30 attractions worldwide. As the sun sets over the Gold Coast, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is transformed into a celestial pathway through the magic of projections, lighting and music, taking you on a journey through the stars.

Astra Lumina Gold Coast is located within Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary at 28 Tomewin Street, Currumbin. Car parking is available, fees may apply, and Astra Lumina is easily accessible by public transport. Please see directions here.

Astra Lumina Gold Coast is a nighttime experience best enjoyed after sunset. Astra Lumina is currently open Wed – Sat from 6PM. Opening hours will change from season to season, we recommend checking our website for up-to-date opening hours and sessions times.

We recommend arriving at least 30 minutes prior to your session time to check in and enjoy a range of food and drinks in the Welcome Pavillion.

The well-being of the animals in the Sanctuary is our highest priority, and we have taken extensive steps to ensure their safety and comfort. This enchanting bushland trail offers an immersive, nighttime journey through a previously unutilised section of our 27-hectare property, separate from our wildlife habitats. Astra Lumina Gold Coast has undergone extensive planning and consultation with wildlife and environmental experts.

This is an outdoor experience; we recommend dressing in weather appropriate clothing and wearing closed toed shoes. Umbrellas are allowed on the trail, but please be courteous of other guests when using them.

The Gold Coast is subject to many different weather conditions. Our team will closely monitor weather; however, Astra Lumina will remain open in light rain. You will be informed if you have purchased a ticket, and Astra Lumina closes due to unsafe weather.

Astra Lumina is like booking a concert or ticket entrance to the cinema. If you cannot be present for your allocated experience time, we cannot make any refunds or changes. 

Yes, if you have booked the wrong date or time, you can amend your tickets to your preferred date and timeslot. More details coming soon.

Yes, we will accommodate you in the next available timeslot on the same night. Please note this cannot be accommodated if you are booked into the last session of the night.

If a session time is cancelled, due to weather or any other reason, we will automatically process a refund back to the original payment method and you will be contacted via email or SMS.

We would love to see you enjoying your experience and invite you to share your content with us @astralumina_gc #AstraLuminaGoldCoast – for safety, please don’t bring tripods or monopods, and flash photography is not permitted.

We recommend arriving early to your session time so you can enjoy food and drinks in the Astra Lumina welcome pavilion.

Yes, you are welcome to bring your own food. Please note Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is licensed and no BYO alcohol is allowed. This is a walking experience, so please do not bring eskies or picnics. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. 

For the safety and enjoyment of all guests, please do not bring pets, bikes, scooters, drones, glass or alcohol to Astra Lumina Gold Coast.

There are restrooms at the start, and the end of the 1.5KM trail.

Astra Lumina Gold Coast includes flashing lights, lasers and theatrical fog.

Be sure to check our website for details of session times with lower contrast lighting and reduced capacity for guests with sensory needs.

Yes, wheelchairs are available for hire. Please see our Guest Services team or contact us ahead of time at enquiries@cws.org.au

Guide, Hearing and Assistance Dogs are welcome, however, due to Queensland Biosecurity restrictions and the safety of Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary animals, only certified service dogs under the Guide, Hearing and Assistance Dog Act 2009 are permitted on the premises. 

Please contact Guest Services via email to provide proof of certification and current vaccination details of the assistance dog prior to arrival. We request at least 48 hours’ notice to ensure consultation with our Wildlife Hospital staff to review the documents.

Accompanied handlers or trainers must provide proof of certification and current vaccination for their service dog. We ask that dogs wear their working vest or cloth identifying their role at all times.

Assistance dogs that are trained with a bark response can cause a fright/flight reaction amongst our animals and may not be granted access to certain areas of Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.

There are no cloaking facilities at Astra Lumina Gold Coast.
